G.I. Joe Search and Rescue - The Joe Le Foundation

current fundraising Event

Calling all who are interested in Emergency Medical Service (‘EMS’) skills and outdoor activities!!

If you, a family, friend, or loved one has ever been injured in the outdoors and did not know what to do next or how to help- this is the class for you.

What to expect: This class will be taught by Disaster Relief Operation Manager, as well as the Chief Medical Director of G.I. Joe Search and Rescue.

Learn wilderness survival skills such as:

  1. Addressing the issues of dehydration/ heat exhaustion
  2. Recognizing different common snakes, and what to do if bitten
  3. Learn poisonous plants common to Orange County and what to do if exposed
  4. Red flags and how to help head injuries, trauma or concussions
  5. Bleed control, assess other injury and CPR introduction

Why this opportunity is important and helpful:

The wilderness is not always the safest place, since many accidents and injuries occur in remote areas- you will gain a basic understanding of the gear, skills, and knowledge needed to best assist in these environments.

This class is for the community, and seeks to instill some of the decision-making, communication, and hands-on practice of EMS skills that the public does not usually have access to.

Class will be held at G.I. Joe SAR office:

26040 Acero Dr., Mission Viejo, CA 92691

Event date: March 5, 2016

Event time: 10am - 1pm.

the Story

Joes in Action

Who is Joe Le

A friend, a brother and a son whom we all miss dearly.

Joe Le, 20, was smart, witty and passionate about living his life to its fullest. He was an aspiring graphics design artist who loved both the outdoors and helping others who crossed his path.

I strive towards simplicity in my day-to-day life, allowing it to revolve around two elements: Helping those I can, and finding reasons to smile - no matter how small." - Joe Le

“It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there will ll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

The mission of G.I. Joe Search & Rescue is to provide assistance & resources to local authorities and families with missing loved ones. We are a self-activating team of search & rescue volunteers, and we respond when notified of an emergency rescue or recovery mission. We strive to prevent and assist in emergency rescue situations by 1) preparing and training ourselves with survival and SAR techniques, and 2) educating the public on safety and survival techniques.

For 4 years, G.I. Joe Search and Rescue - The Joe Le Foundation has devoted its energy to passionately advocating and educating individuals and groups on outdoor survival, preparedness and the dangers inherent in venturing out in the canyons and natural areas that makes up southern California. We've also assisted numerous families in locating their loved ones, one of which was featured in OCWeekly.
